5_quotes_to_think_differently_about_cxIf you’re anything like me, you probably find going to events is a great way to get new ideas and get inspired. You get to listen to amazing stories, find out different ways of doing things and get that all important thinking space away from your desk.

You might have heard that we’re running a CX Day event on 6th October: Build a Great Customer Experience. But for those of you who can’t make it (or those just looking for a little bit of inspiration in the run up to CX Day itself), here are 5 quotes to inspire you to think differently about customer experience.

"Your assumptions are your windows on the world - scrub them off every once in a while" - Issac Assimov, Click to Tweet

Sometimes, when we get stuck in the day to day of work, we start to make assumptions, without having the evidence to prove them. For CX professionals it’s really important to resist the temptation to assume your customers are thinking one way or the other. Instead, use real-time feedback to make sure that you’re on top of what your customers are actually saying.

"Every child is an artist the problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up" - Pablo Picasso, Click to Tweet

Creativity and thinking different isn’t easy. But they’re the key to standing out in a crowded space. Take Picasso as inspiration to remember your inner child and think about how they’d approach customer feedback.

"It's more fun to talk with someone who doesn't use long difficult words, but rather short easy words like, 'What About Lunch'" - Winnie the Pooh, Click to Tweet

Winnie the Pooh says it all really – simplicity and clarity is best if you want to get your messages across. When we try to be too clever or too complicated, it makes it much harder for everyone to understand what you’re trying to say.

"The dark ages are the time between when you put away the Lego for the last time as a kid and when you decide as an adult that it’s ok to play with a kid’s toy" - Hillel Copperman, Click to Tweet

With our event theme of building a great customer experience and LEGO®, we couldn’t resist adding this one into the mix. As CX professionals, we forget that people are just people and they want to have fun. So look again at your feedback mechanism and think again about how you can make it enjoyable and gamified.

"I've played with other construction kits [apart from Lego] where the physical demands are fixing it together got in the way of the creativity" - David Whitebread, Click to Tweet

Though this is another quote about LEGO® (hope you don’t mind!), it’s a great reminder that when our surveys are long and complex, they can get in the way of us accessing the insight we want from them.

Unfortunately, all the spaces for CX Day are now filled. However, as we don't want anyone to miss out, we're streaming the event live on the day so if you're still interested, sign up below for the live stream!
